Frequently Asked Questions

Before seeing any medical specialist, it is always preferable to talk to your own family doctor, who can discuss your condition with you and advise on whether any specialist care is appropriate. If it is, he or she can help you to choose the specialist best suited to your needs. Your family doctor can help the specialist to care for you better by providing relevant information about your health. Communicating with the specialist will also enable your family doctor to care for you better during and after your specialist treatment.

During your initial visit, the doctor will evaluate the appropriate treatment you may need and will review the specific test or procedure indicated based on your diagnosis. Once your test is completed, our providers will advise you of the results and review any additional treatment you may need, if any.

Also, the cardiologist (or provider) will provide a report to your PCP or the referring MD after your visit or test.

Please bring:

  • Completed, printed forms. Forms are available for download here.
  • A list of current medications, dosages and times taken, or the prescription bottles themselves.
  • Insurance Identification card(s) and any pertinent information about your coverage. All insurance cards will be scanned into your medical record.
  • Comfortable clothing and walking shoes, preferably sneakers or running shoes. Please see our Test Preparation Information Sheet for additional information regarding your specific test.

Insurance-related information:

  • Based on your insurance company, many HMO insurances and other insurance companies require a referral from your Primary Care Provider (PCP). If your insurance does require a referral, we will need that referral before we make a consultative appointment or schedule a test in our office. The referral must be approved by your PCP and it is the patient’s responsibility to secure the referral prior to your appointment.
  • If you’re coming for a test, please check with your insurance company as many insurances will not pay for the test without a Prior Authorization (PA). Please note: A PA must be authorized by the physician who is ordering the test. We cannot schedule a test without an approved PA along with an accompanying confirmation number.

Your medical file is handled with the utmost respect for your privacy. Our staff are bound by strict confidentiality requirements as a condition of employment regarding your medical records. Ordinarily we will not release the contents of your medical file without your consent.
